North Sweden is main organizer to the event "Bioenergy and the bio-based sector - Key for a sustainable and climate neutral Europe" the 25 of June during EU Sustainable Energy Week 2020 in Brussels.

 North Sweden and EU Sustainable Energy Week 2020

Thursday, June 25th at 09:00-10:30 during the EU Sustainable Energy Week, EUSEW, the seminar BIOENERGY AND THE BIO-BASED SECTOR – KEY FOR A SUSTAINABLE AND CLIMATE NEUTRAL EUROPE  will take place where North Sweden European Office is the main organizer, and the Institute for European Environmental Policy, IEEP, as co-organizer.

The event will focus on the role of the forest industry within the objectives of the EU Green Deal. The potential in Northern Sweden's forestry and industry to produce biofuels for the transport sector is relevant for the entire EU. The discussion will touch upon what policies are needed to ensure the full potential of the forest in the future with forest-based bio refineries and what active forestry in northern Europe can contribute with to the EU climate adaptation and long term goals of climate neutrality.

The registration for the EU Sustainable Energy Week opens later this April We will update the information here as soon as the registration for the North Sweden event opens and the rest of the EUSEW is open for registration! EUSEW will take place at the so-called Networking Village in Brussels.

The EU-commission goal with the EUSAW is that public authorities, private businesses, non-government organizations, and consumers can take part in a platform that can work as a start for further marketing and promotion of initiatives focusing on effective energy saving, renewable energy, and innovation.
