These two days will offer a variety of seminars on the interface between culture-driven growth and sustainable urban development. All dimensions of sustainable development will be touched on by examples from both Umeå and other parts of the world.

Programme

The conference will include a variety of seminars. For example, meet:

Domingos Secco Junior & Daniel Bittencourt from Lung in Porto Alegre Brazil, and hear them talk about WikiCity – a platform that engage citizens to develop sustainable cities.

Shin-pei Tsay, Director of Research and Development at Transit Center in New York, USA. A long with Elin Pietroni, Head of the comprehensive planning unit at Umeå Municipality, she will share her ideas on how we can re-think the methods of sustainable urban planning by involving creative and cultural businesses and education.

Aerian Rogers, Head of Development at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead, UK. Ariean Rogers will tell us about regeneration through Culture.
