FEDARENE lanserar Roger Léron Award

Nu lanserar FEDARENE (European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment) det årliga priset Roger Léron Award. Syftet med priset, som är döpt efter organisationens tidigare ordförande, är att uppmärksamma uthållighet och preventiva angreppssätt som inneburit ett lyckat bidrag i strävandet efter hållbar energianvändning på regional och/eller lokal nivå i Europa.

Priset är vidare menat att erkänna den viktiga roll som aktörer och förvaltningar på lokal och regional nivå spelar i hållbarhetsfrågor, tack vare deras ansvar för många policyfrågor rörande hållbarhet, deras närhet till invånarna samt deras lokalkännedom.

Varje år kommer vinnaren av priset (en individ eller organisation) att uppmärksammas vid en prisceremoni i Bryssel. Anmälan står nu öppen inför den första upplagan och det går att skicka in nomineringar fram till den 15 april 2015.

I am pleased to announce the launch of the 1st edition of the Roger Léron Award, created by the FEDARENE. The purpose of this Award is to acknowledge persistency, a proactive approach, bringing a successful contribution to sustainable energy at the regional and / or local level in Europe.

Indeed, we believe that the regional and local levels of governance play a central role in energy and climate issues, through their responsibility for many policy areas (energy, transport, housing,...), their proximity to citizens, their thorough knowledge of the territory, and their greater flexibility than national governments.

Each year as from 2015, the winner (an individual or an organisation) will receive the trophy during a ceremony in June, in Brussels. I invite you to apply or to nominate an individual or organisation by 15 April 2015.

The Award is named in memory of Roger Léron who was president of FEDARENE from 1990 to 2007 and a great contributor to the regional and local sustainable energy field throughout his life.

De beslut som tas inom EU:s klimatpolitik har inverkan på regionens näringsliv och invånarnas livsmiljö. Utöver de klimat- och energirelaterade målen främjar EU arbetet med en ökad biodiversitet, en hållbar användning av naturresurser, att motverka hälsoproblem orsakade av klimatförändringar, ett hållbart jordbruk och att säkra EU:s livsmedelsförsörjning. Norra Sverige har speciella förhållanden såväl befolkningsstruktur som klimat vilka måste tas hänsyn till vid utformandet av unionens lagstiftning.
